Rest in Peace Damian Isherwood

A statement from Lynne Morris, Regional Secretary, UNISON North West:

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our dear colleague and friend Damian Isherwood, who passed away this weekend.

Damian joined the UNISON staff in 2008, having previously worked as a clerical worker in Royal Bolton Hospital. He was involved with UNISON for many years – starting as a union rep at Bolton Health branch and taking on the role of Branch Secretary; before joining the regional staff.

Those of us who worked with him will tell you he was a passionate and proud trade unionist who rallied for the underdog at every opportunity.

A talented musician Damian enjoyed attending gigs and his weekly band sessions with his bandmates. He was known to be a great guitarist and joked about the need to hone his singing with lessons at weekends.

Damian was a really sociable guy, Tuesday night was steak night with his friends and union movement comrades in his local – he, spoke of them putting the world to rights. A keen follower of the Latics, he attended each home match, but he was also known to support Liverpool FC on the quiet.

To many, Damian was known to bring lots of fun and to be a kind gentleman who will be missed by all those that knew him.

Our thoughts are with Auntie Shelley, family and friends at this very sad time.

Rest in peace Damian.
