Care staff at St Monica Trust staff are on strike after a ballot saw 82% vote in favour of taking action.

The staff are taking action over:

  • Cuts to pay rates – in some cases, totalling over £3,500 a year
  • Cuts to sick pay entitlement
  • Cuts to working hours by forcing extra unpaid breaks during their shifts

The staff have been told that if they do not accept the changes they will be “fired and rehired” – dismissed from their jobs and forced to agree to the changes in order to be re-employed.
