Striking OCS members wave UNISON flags on their picket line.

Come and work as an organiser in UNISON North West!

Are you ready to lead the fight-back against exploitative employers in social care, stagnating wages, poor terms and conditions of workers, the cost-of-living crisis and attacks on our public services?

UNISON North West is seeking to recruit to the following positions:

  • 2 x Local Organisers, fixed term for 12 months and 1 x Area Organiser, fixed term for 12 months to work with our branches to build power and fight for better pay and conditions specifically for migrant workers in the social care sector.
  • 1 x Permanent Local Organiser
  • 1 x Fixed term Local Organiser

These organiser positions will recruit new members and activists, develop leaders, build activist networks and win campaigns through supporting migrant worker members to take escalating collective action.

We need committed, proactive and enthusiastic people to organise and empower workers to win improvements in their workplace.

We want applicants from a wide variety of backgrounds, skills and experience, both within the trade union movement and our allies in the wider community.

We encourage applicants from groups that are under-represented in our organising staff, particularly women and those from Black communities.

Does this sound like you or someone you know?

The jobs will be advertised and open to applications in the coming weeks.

We will be holding information sessions for those interested in finding out more and considering submitting an application for the jobs, including:

  • what is involved in the role
  • our approach to organising
  • guidance on how to complete an application form
  • an opportunity to talk to those already doing the job
